When to Take Your Pet to the Vet
Dogs and cats can’t tell you when they feel sick, are in pain, or need to visit the vets at Animal Wellness Center. Unfortunately, animals are genetically programmed to hide their pain and discomfort in a wide variety of ways. In the wild, any sign of pain could make them targets for predators. This instinctive behavior can make it hard to tell when your dog or cat needs medical intervention.
It is important to observe your pet’s habits since even the slightest behavioral change can mean something more is amiss. Animal Wellness Center veterinarians have some tips to know when it’s time to seek treatment for your cat or dog.
What symptoms do pet owners need to look out for?
Some of the more common symptoms of illness among dogs and cats include coughing, sneezing, vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, and itching. Noticeable symptoms in both canines and felines to look out for are:
- Red or cloudy eyes
- Fur falling out
- Coughing or sneezing
- Bad breath
- Vomit or diarrhea
- Discharge or drool
- Limping
- Open wound
If you notice your cat or dog developing any of these symptoms, we recommend you schedule an appointment right away at your nearest Animal Wellness Center.
